1. How has 2012 been so far for Shawnee Taylor?

So far it has been another great year! I’ve been on the road for most of it, save for some studio time to record “Love In Me” and to write some new songs as well. I’m gearing up to go back out and tour in support of my new record and I’m very excited to get back with my fans worldwide!

2. What was the inspiration for new single Love In Me?

The minute I heard the track I was inspired. The song is about loving who you are and understanding that you don’t need anyone to validate you or make you feel love. The love you have within yourself is an amazing love to have.

3. You work with Erick a lot, what was it like working with Denis The Menace and Sandro Monte?

Denis and Sandro are great producers – I’ve appreciated their work and was happy to finally get to work with them. Amazingly, we did not meet while recording – modern technology let’s us do wonders over long distances.

4. The video was set in New York, what is your connection with the city?

Being a homegrown New Yorker myself, I have always had a love affair with this city. We shot the video in NYC because it is where everything began for me and its where I feel most creative and free. It’s home.

5. What are your top tips for fun in New York?

There are so many fantastic things to do here! I always tell people to bring comfortable shoes and just walk. You really never know where the day will take you and who you’ll meet. It doesn’t hurt to have a sense of adventure because there’s so much to discover. I have lived here all of my life and I am still finding new things to love.

7. How do you keep your voice in such good shape?

I have 3 vocal coaches in my family so I grew up learning how to care for my instrument. Plus, I never stop singing : ) and of course tons of sleep!

8. What are your plans for the rest of 2012 and 2013?

Erick, Harry, Jose, Duane and I have been in studio working hard and we are really excited about the music we are making. It’s really incredible stuff! I think that after working together for so long we all have such a great vibe and synergy, so the remainder of 2012 will mostly be spent in the studio. I will also be spending some time in the kitchen (my turn to cook for the holidays : ). As for 2013, you can expect more great music, more touring and a few other surprises ; ) I’m really looking forward to whats ahead.
