The highly talented globetrotting DJ Desyn Masiello is the guest at Arkadia for this week’s Subliminal + Friends party. He’s no stranger to the city, with years of legendary WMC parties and regular visits under his belt already, but it’s the first time he’s played for us.

We grabbed a few moments with him ahead of tomorrow night’s special appearance to discuss his exciting new projects and why Miami always excites him.

What are you looking forward to about playing in Miami, playing at Arkadia and playing for Subliminal?

“Miami is a unique place in the world. It’s truly a mix of darkness and light. It has the best club scene of any city in the world year round, and it has a dark side to the city that sometimes effects our scene too. I’ve seen and heard of some terrifying things happening in and out of clubs in Miami but I’ve also had some of the most memorable and fun times ever there too.

“It’s impossible not to get excited when going to Miami, and it’s probably a mix of fear and excitement and that’s something I quite like in a twisted kind of way.

“Subliminal are an icon in the industry and stand for quality house music, both underground and commercial -so the label has kind of touched everyone, which is cool.

“Arkadia just looks insane. I’ve not been there yet but I’ve done a bit of research and I hear it’s a low ceiling room and has a Funktion One soundsystem – that’s two of my favourite things about a club right there already.”

Tell us a bit about your relationship with Subliminal?

“I guess its all through Erick, I am very close friends with a lot of his friends in Miami and we got to know each other that way. He was actually at a private party I was playing at once and heard me play.

“I play many styles but my main vibe is all about house music and I think playing that soulful bouncy house vibe that everyone can relate too is what Subliminal and I have in common.”

What is your focus musically at the moment?

“Right now I’m focusing on launching a new CD compilation series with a big group of other DJs, a new weekly radio show, and of course always trying to bring something new to people in my DJ sets. More info on all of this can be found on my new website www.faciendo.com as soon as it’s launched in a few weeks.”

What else are you up to in the coming weeks?

“The radio show is launched world wide in 3 weeks (around 10 stations to begin with), producing and putting out those shows is taking up most of my time at the moment, but throughout March I’m playing most weekends in and around Miami, and a quick trip down to Pacha in Buenos Aires mid-March looks likely too. I’m also doing the annual event I do each WMC with Sander Kleinenberg, the Ultimate Yacht Cruise on Thursday March 24th of Ultra week.”
